The Observing and Masternig of your emotions

This is a BIG one!

How do you stay in control of your emotions, rather than letting your emotions control you?

Emotions are important, they can help you guide your life. If you know how to use them and if you use them correctly.
If not, they run your life for you, without you even knowing or having a real say in the matter. This is what we want to avoid. It is important to be in charge, and to get to know your emotions.

Emotions change your physiological state: your breathing, your posture and your thinking; it changes your body chemistry - in other words, it changes you!

Emotions dictate your day-today-life. As you react to your surrounding; through anchored cues, which pull an emotion to the forefront, and run the show for you.

Lets see what the dictionary  says about it:

emotion
  1. A mental state that arises spontaneously rather than through conscious effort and is often accompanied by physiological changes; a feeling: the emotions of joy, sorrow, reverence, hate, and love.
  2. A state of mental agitation or disturbance: spoke unsteadily in a voice that betrayed his emotion.
  3. The part of the consciousness that involves feeling; sensibility:

So,

How do you master your emotions then?

It has to start with learning to observe yourself - recognizing when you are in different emotional states, and how your body and thoughts are affected by it - posture, facial expression, breathing, focus, thoughts etc.

Secondly observe your thoughts, truly stay with them. Observing what you think, and how your thoughts affect you. This might be a tricky one; it's like being a second awareness in your head - "seeing" what you think.

Monitor your thoughts, and your emotional state with it. Get to know your feelings, and learn to recognize when you are under the control of a certain emotion.

If you want to break a negative emotion coming on, do something unexpected, like clap your hands, spin around, jump, slap yourself - anything - to break your mind starting to run it's normal program, with the undesired emotion.

Just going for a walk or a light run will help your body chemistry, and turn around a sour mood. Or doing two of the following : Change your posture to a good one, put a smile on your face(even if it's a fake one), focus your thoughts on the positive, control and slow your breathing - taking deep slow breaths through your nose.

In Conclusion.

To master your emotions practice to observe your thoughts - learn staying aware of what you think
- and how you think about it.

As this sets you in the direction of your emotion.

A smile, a good posture and calm breathing will also put your mind in the right direction.

The better you get on observing yourself the easier it gets to halt and turn negative emotions once they start. You will also find that you will also experience less "negative" emotions.

Just for the record.

I don't really think there are such a thing as "Good" or "Bad". As, "it's all good" - however there are emotions that benefit your life and there are emotions that just help to give nuance to "the life experience". It is important to feel all emotions, but equally important to be in charge of your emotions so that you are the one who act, and not the emotion.

I mean, is it you or your emotions who buy/eat/choose/do/want: "the new I-pod", "the red one", "just a small chocolate", "a coke", "a line of coke", "a cigarette", "the chips", "a newer version", "delivered pizza", "ohhh the shiny one" and "whatever else they are advertising nowadays" or "whatever else you use to numb your emotions"

Good reading on the subject are among many others:
Paul Ekman - Emotions Revealed
and
Daniel Goleman - Emotional Intelligence

Social Media and Birthdays

Social media like i.e. Facebook is mostly a place for narcissism, networking or voyeurism of various forms.
It can also be seen as a a lazy persons contact list, or as a place to waste huge amounts of time playing with various applications.

In other words, they are not really that social like the name suggests.

However on your birthday the social interactions seems to flourish. People suddenly decide to use the media to be social, A simple click and a (true) heartfelt message later, and you have done a truly social act.

You have made someone feel special and thought of, although everyone involved really knows it is due to the reminder in the corner. But that doesn't matter, a well wishing, is always a well wishing, electronically reminded or not.

So, for all of you who uses social media to congratulate me, thank you very much, it warms my heart, and expect the same in return, when I see your name under birthdays today. as this is a good excuse to socially interact via social media.

Money and Revolution (eiher or (or both) it's up to you)

The following started off the discussion on the Revolution, and I quote:
A revolution is bound to happen within this century. Drastic measures and changes will occur. Hopefully dropping the money system completely. Any ideas on how and what’s going to happen?
An interesting discussion followed, mostly centring around the argument if money is the blame or if there is some other issue that is causing all (supposed) world problems.

This is what I had to say about the issue:

Money is a state of mind!

Money is not the problem, there is money everywhere, as a matter of fact, there is more money in the world now than there has ever been before… money can literally be made-up from thin air, I mean, that is (really) how it’s made. This means you can make money, because it is as real as you make it…Money is just a token of exchange, if you don’t like it don’t use it.

And if you don’t use money, you would have some sort of exchange of goods and services. But in any case, the important thing to understand here is that money is a state of mind, just like everything else, it’s a belief in both the actual sense – the fact that we give it value – and a belief system – The beliefs you have about yourself; the beliefs about your situation, your relationships with money etc.

Naturally this belief system goes further than just money, whatever you hold to be true, will be so. If money is the issue, well then get yourself out of the money system – make yourself self sufficient, or change your belief, both are liberating.

- not needing money and having plenty of money.

So the revolution then?

Well the revolution is here all around you, and it starts with you, the individual. Like Ghandi said, be the change you want to see in the world

the revolution will not come to you, because it is already in you,

YOU ARE the REVOLUTION

If you don’t like the system, change the system, lead, don’t follow, live like you want the world to live, don’t wait for the world to live like you want.

You are not NORMAL

Normal changes both with time, culture and customs.
What normal then is, is always relative.

Are you normal?

Normal as an adjective, here are the first three definitions from Collins English Dictionary:

normal

1. usual; regular; common; typical the normal way of
                doing it the normal level
              2. constituting a standard if we take this as normal
              3. (Psychology) Psychol
               a. being within certain limits of intelligence,
                   educational success or ability, etc.
               b. conforming to the conventions of one's group

I am not Normal!

I don't quite remember when I realized that I wasn't normal, however it must of happened quite early on in my journey as a human being.

Sure, I've tried to be normal many-times, all with varied success.

Using the definitions of normal above; I can honestly say that the less normal I am the better I feel. The more fun I have, the more I experience and the more I achieve.

Many strive to be normal, to be accepted, not to stick out, or to create ripples.

But here is the thing, YOU are not normal. you ARE unique, and that is what makes you so very SPECIAL.
Life is all about creating ripples, life is not about being accepted, but about accepting yourself.

Accepting all of you - flaws, successes, losses, background, situation, mind - you get the drift - all of it, accept it, then LOVE IT!

You are a creation of pure bliss, let it drive your life.

cute cats - a shopping list - random music - links - sophisticated food - and a pinch of randomness

Hello

I thought I'd write you a little something

When I sit by the computer and work, I like to listen to random music, and one of my favourite places to do so is 8track where you can listen to peoples `mixed tapes`.

Press play and have a listen for the rest of the read.

I never thought I would post a picture of a cat on internet, and even less so here on my own personal blog. But here I am, embedding a mix with a bloody cat looking all comfortable,  fluffy and cute.

Anyhow.

Today was Wednesday which is great as that means P and I go to the market and buy our food. We go twice a week, Saturdays and Wednesdays to keep us stocked up with nice fresh greens and fruits..

Today we bought> 20 green coconuts - box of bananas (probably 60-80 bananas) - 3 pineapples - 4 kg of tomatoes - 4 large avocados - box of kakis/persimmon, (12 big ones) - 16 figs - big bunch of coriander -  big bunch of dandelion leafs - and 2 massive passion fruits

We have plenty of greens in the garden so we don`t really need to buy greens, but it is nice to get something grown in a different soil.

P got some potatoes and mandioca (a root) to make gnocci for her father who is 78 tomorrow - This is also why we got so many tomatoes as I promised to do one of my famous tomato sauces... which I haven't done for about 2 years as it is cooked. I will definitely try some since P spent probably 4 hours making the gnocci (potato pasta).  To give P some company in the kitchen I created some awesome raw chocolates for her dads birthday, he loves our chocolates.

I don't use recipes and I seldom write down my own creations, but do I record them in my mind - where they usually stay.

P has however started a site in Portuguese and in English, where she is, and will share some of my recipes with you. Alongside health and nutritional information, inspiration and well-being. Naturally she has to get into the habit of writing for it, and also get me to sit down and write the ingredients list for the dishes that she chooses. To visit click the link: Comida Do Sol

Creating food that is tasty, gourmet and healthy is not only a good idea, it shows intelligence and sophistication, as well as being highly rewarding to both mind and body.

When you have friends over for dinner, or make something nice for the family, introduce something delicious and healthy. there are tons of recipes of healthy mouthwatering raw food on the internet, so it really is just to take a pick, and tweak after your own taste-buds.
I.e. This cake here sounds fantastic, try it out, I bet you will be knocked off your socks. Love Raw is an expert on desserts that are good for you and taste good, now that is cool...
I would substitute the agave for either honey or some other raw sweetener but that is the great thing with preparing things yourself, you can tweak it to your preference. to get the cake recipe go here: Love Raw

Raw desserts are not about maximum health, they are not even about raw food, they are about eating something delicious - and we all like to eat delicious food.

Check back on Saturday and I will let you know what we bought, that way you get an idea of what we eat in a week.

Much Love,

Inspiration - Osho

Last  night P and I went to a `Tao temple` where we listened to a very good talk on
intention - character - destiny
it was delivered by a Taiwanese who has lived in Brazil for 10 years. There was some bowing involved before the talk started and we couldn't sit next to each-other, as men and women sat on either side, men to the right and women to the left, the bowing was also taking place separate, men first then women. I always find these sorts of habits funny and a bit strained, but you know as they say, while in Rome.

in short:
what you think, feel, talk and focus on in the now becomes your character, and your character creates your life.

Nothing he said was new to either of us. But it was the first time I have heard a Tao Buddhist speak on the topic, and it was very nice.  You cant really get enough of good reminders, so it was welcomed.

However the real reason we were there was to show a green smoothie recipe on a vegetarian cooking class held after the aforementioned presentation.

We did a very small introduction and showed a simple green smoothie and spoke about it. People showed allot of interest and  and wanted to know more. It was great fun ad-libbing in Portuguese in front of a crowd, I got rather pleased with my language skills.

anyhow, here is a clip:.

Osho is great, here he is talking about provocation, humour, contradictions, attachment and freedom.

Life without TV

A fated spring day in 2005 our TV stopped working.

P and I took it as a sign of sorts, and agreed on not buying another.

I can honestly say that it has been one of the best decisions taken in my life.

I never really spent much time thinking about the decisions I've taken in life and how they rank towards one and other, but now writing this, I can easily say that deciding to live without TV is among the top 10 best decisions, together with perhaps studying in the States, moving to London, changing my diet and moving to Brazil.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand: Life without TV

Living life without TV gave me a minimum of 3 hours extra per week, but to be more realistic an extra 8-10 hours or at times much more per week. And I say extra, because watching TV is dead time. It is time that you can spend doing things that is good for you, or give you something in return.

Time better spent improving your life; playing, learning, talking with friends and family, exercising, taking up a new hobby or just laying on the couch daydreaming etc.

why not? Innit!

Posted this on a Swedish Raw food community website I very recently joined, and thought I would share it with you, don't know why I was writing in English in a Swedish community and on a Swedish site, but since I did, and it's worth reading. I thought, lets repost it here.
Posted a talk by Jane Goodall on my blog you might be interested to see it. About 30 minutes long.

She doesn't talk to much about diet but it might interest you that:

bonobos (dwarf chimps), the closest DNA link to humans, prefers, over all other foods, figs. Fresh figs... oh and figs being very sweet and delicious would probably have maggots and insects in them.

the once who eat meat (rarely), not all of them do you see, are the once who are more aggressive.

my conclusion

meat=aggression

More water info!

Water: The source of all life.

About 70% of the earth’s surface is covered with water and 97% of this is salt water. Although the salt can be removed (desalination), it is a difficult and expensive process. 2% of the water on earth is glacier ice at the North and South Poles while less than 1% of all the water on earth is fresh water that we can actually use.

Embedded water, a hidden ecological problem

Various forecasts predict that the worlds population will exceed 8 billion in 20 years time, increasing global demand for food and energy with the need for fresh water rising by 30 percent. This will place an unsustainable stress on the worlds eco-systems. This could lead to a perfect storm, a term used by the UK governments chief scientist, Professor John Beddington, to describe future shortages of energy, food and water.

What many people fail to appreciate is that consumption goes beyond simple use of water in everyday life. There is the more important embedded water - the water used to grow food.

lets see where I take it this time!

This blog is built around the Buddhist saying:
`there is no road to happiness, happiness is the road´

Which is the way I live my life, and the way I strive to live my life.

There is no end destination, the end destination is always where you are...

The now is your only time, but the now doesn´t exist. Just like time doesn´t exist.
Time is man made, we have created it to get power over nature, and also over ourselves. It is a creation of and for society

There is a constant flow, and there is a movement of the earth and the moon, (and to a larger degree of the sun and the galaxy), so I am not disputing that there is a time continuum, or as I like to see it, a never ending change.

However there is no calendar, showing the time for the earth, or hours and seconds, these are all made up equations to try to capture a moment: past, future or present. Time is created to try to freeze moments, but moments can´t be frozen, they can only change... And as you change, the moments change, the past, which doesn´t exist (any-more) can be changed, depending on how we look upon the past in the present...

witness reports from crime scenes are good examples. There are usually as many different realities of the same ´past´event as there are witnesses. This is because the past event no longer exist, only a person in the present looking back at the past.

MY MORNING ROUTINE

My mornings are started with the drinking of around a litre of water upon wakening... a big glass before I leave the bed, and then I fill the glass and drink it again, during the waking process... I go to the bathroom and I empty, making my day start with a nicely clean and empty intestine each day...

I eat a raw vegetarian diet, rich in fibres and water.
I avoid eating 2 hours before I go to bed, and I avoid eating late at nights, so that my body can have time to do both the digestive process and general body maintenance while I sleep.

After I have been to the toilet, and I have finished my water, I flush my teeth with olive oil (cold pressed).
I flush and chew a table spoon of oil for 3-4 minutes, this helps my body to release toxins from the blood stream, through my mouth. I spit, then rinse with mineral salt and water, or bicarbonate soda and water; then I repeat the process. This is called oil pulling.

After this I brush my tongue a bit, and my teeth, then it is time for food. Depending on how much time I have available I either have a fruit to start me off, or I go for a green smoothie right away.

Today will be some melon, with a green smoothie following after about 30 - 45 minutes.

I always start my day with a green smoothie, which is a mixture of any dark leafy green, fruit (I usually use banana) and water, it's delicious and it sets me off for the best start of the day ever, full of energy and health.

- The water helps hydrate me and helps flush my kidney and liver in the morning.

- The oil helps me have whiter and cleaner teeth, a less toxic body and better health.

- The green smoothie helps me get a good helping of healthy greens in my stomach when my digestive fires are high, which sets for good assimilation and good energy to last.

habits create results, if you have good habits you will get good results!

Much love!

Best food ever!

first post of 2011.

it will be about food.

over the last 5-6 years I have gradually and comfortably changed my diet from:

"a normal cooked omnivore diet"
- to
"an organic cooked omnivore diet"
- to
"an organic and pescatarian diet" -
to
"a cooked organic vegetarian diet"
- to
"a 50-60% raw organic vegetarian diet"
- to
"a 70-90% raw vegetarian diet"
- to a
"95-100% raw vegetarian diet"

It has been a carefree and natural transition, and I have really enjoyed the food I have eaten and in all of the different stages. However where I am now; "95-100% raw vegetarian diet" is the most delicious.

My transition has been information based, and the information I have received has suited my transition perfectly.

I have gradually learnt the harms of meat, milk, eggs, heavy metals, herbicides and pesticides, soya, sugar, salt, flour, cooked fat, heating of foods, medicines, food and politics, GM products, food chemicals etc.

I have learnt of water, acidity and alkalinity, detoxing, chlorophyll, stomach acids, the immune-system, minerals, antioxidants, vitamins, amino acids, good fats, enzymes, fibres, cells, the body, the sun, the mind, bacteria, healing, spirituality, detachment, fasting and much much more...

It has been one of the best journeys ever, I have learnt, I have applied the knowledge, I have seen and felt the positive results. I have learnt more, applied, improved, and so it goes.

I have seen other people apply my knowledge and improve and I have seen them ignore the knowledge to then decline again. I have seen and felt the healing powers of the best foods, and I have seen and felt the destructive powers of bad foods.

I lately asked myself, if you know what you know, do you really let your friends and family go on like they always have done?
slowly degenerating themselves with what should really give them nourishment - their food!

I know that you can't change others, just yourself, so it is an interesting question.

thoughts from my garden

I saw the film Network last night, it is from 1976, and hits a very rusty nail on the head. "There are no nations there is no democracy, there is only business, the world is a business."

The thought of countries is a dying concept, there are only multinational corporations, and they run us through governments, UN, WTO, IMF, etc. still pulling a cloak in front of eyes, making us believe that the concept of nations is still valid... well the blurring of the edges is strong when EU has taken the sovereignty from its member nations, and WTO punishes any nation who do not play it's game of Free Open Markets... private banking giants (IMF) are receiving money from nations to lend out to other nations, with clauses and rules which takes the freedom even further from the nation than it was before... We have seen Greece, we have seen Iceland, we can see what is happening in the USA, and we will soon be able to see what will happen to the UK, Spain, Portugal and Italy.

Then there is the impending war against Iran, the media networks are building it up and creating the groundwork for an attack... reports about people getting death sentences executed by stoning, and reports of civil unrest and nuclear weapons... all this so that we the people will not be too upset when Israel or USA throws the first stone....

death penalty in USA is by injection or electric chair, in Japan by hanging...

I don't see much difference from frying internally or getting battered by stones, so lets liberate USA, the people in the USA are ruled by a puppet government, they are an aggressor all around the world, they do have a nuclear bomb (and has used it in the past) they put their citizens in jail for very small minor offences in the name of profit. That's right jails are big business in the states and excellent access to free labour (slave trade), plus the tax payers pay for the whole thing.

Larger parts of the US prison population are in Jail due to minor Marijuana offences...

Marijuana, which is a proven medicine, one of the most effective pain killers on the market. The medicine companies would get big dents in their profit margin if people started making and using hemp oil as an anointment(said to heal skin cancer among many other ailments), or the leafs and flowers as a medicine...

Then we have Hemp, the answer to most of our environmental problems at this time in history: Strong Plastic, good fuel, high nutritional value, one of the strongest fibres known to man, stronger than wood. Now lets put this in to context for you, the brainwashed media and culture population.

Hemp if brought in as a industrial crop on full scale (in all nations) would wipe out the paper forest industry, the oil industry (yes, we would not need fossil fuels), in big parts the mining industry, iron ore, aluminium etc...
It would kill the cotton industry (whom uses 50% of all pesticides used in agriculture). The soya bean would also in big parts be made void if Hemp came in as a player, as would ethanol made from cane sugar... then we have the seeds, which would be able to feed the whole world, and would make very good animal feed (granted I would love to see a world without captured slave animals purely used for our consumption, particularly since the consumption of said meat is one of the main reasons to the poor health of the meat eating nations (cancer, heart decease etc.) and the main reason for our energy consumption, water consumption and in big parts pollutions.

One acre of Hemp is equivalent to one acre of grown forest when it comes to productivity, but you can replant it yearly ( a forest will take anything from 7 years +).

But as you can see Hemp (which doesn't have THC, which means you can't get high from it or use it as a "drug") would put many, very big industries on loose ground.

What you focus on gets amplified. so I don't focus on the above, but I do know about it, because I hold knowledge in high regard. I focus on love, gratitude, how amazing everyday is (they are you know), I focus on having the best time ever, all the time. I focus on my personal growth, I focus on laughter, harmony and beauty! I focus on my increased wealth, on my amazing health and all lives opportunities, which seems to be standing in a big cue just waiting for you to grab one or all of them.

I focus on my posture, I focus on my breathing, I focus on my thoughts, I focus on being concious... I focus on the truth... my truth is very different from the truth you are told by the media corporations, my truth is a truth that you don't get served up on the six o'clock news or in the morning news papers. My truth you can find in books, films and on the internet...

My truth is written between the lines, and my truth can be verified if you choose to know... and the lies of TV news and news papers can also be verified, all you need is a little will to wake up from the matrix, and start educating yourself.

It is a very liberating process... because you take back your freedom, the freedom of your thoughts, the freedom of your beliefs.

and when you start learning, you might get upset, you might get scared, you might be sad, you might not understand it... but you are learning.

Much love to you all!

Start question everything.

Been a bit docile of late when it comes to the writing of my blog....

I have however spent allot of time reading, doing research and moving to a new country, so I haven´t been inactive. Just tied up in what I perceive to be my reality.

Everything you learnt in school, university from press and TV, is not your knowledge, it is knowledge past down to you from someone else, this means that everything you know, or hold to be true, is not your knowledge but it is coming from somewhere.... how do you know you are not a part of a big lie?

How can you know that what you hold to be true is true?

Question everything!

What truly is truth, is a great question all by itself.

and here is my answer to the above question:

I would say, that truth is what you hold to be reality, and what your reality is for you will be your truth..... so with that logic, everything and nothing is true...

In religion and in politics, truth itself is usually the first casualty.

good questions to ask yourself:

What does someone (organizations, governments, business, etc) gain on me believing in X or trusting that Y is real.

Who is making money on X and Y.

Where does the information/knowledge for X and Y come from. where was it created, where can you read/see/hear about it.

Are there any opposing information/knowledge for X and Y.

When did X and Y become "truth".

Why would someone want me to think X and Y is true.

Does believing that X and Y is true limit me?

There is a war on Love and freedom - information is the greatest weapon you have to defend yourself against it. make your truth one that is helpful for life, freedom and love.

Anyway, it is time to speak up!!!

If you see the lies around you, it is not you who is mad, it's your surrounding.

Apathy is the greatest threat to the tr
uth, for our freedom and for love.

it's time to wake
up and not only smell the flowers, but also see the thorns.

The revolution is now, the revolution is love!

Music and Now Revolution

Because that's what friends do isn't it.

the world on higher downs
http://www.myspace.com/theworldonhigherdowns

Turn your speakers up and listen, rather nice I think.

keep believing, and keep preparing for the revolution. it will not be televised, and it will not be reported on by anyone but you. The revolution is already here, so wake up, start seeing the present, give thanks to the moment, you don't have to like what you see, but you have to see it for what it is, reality, and reality in itself is beautiful. Now is the only moment that matters, if you are not present Now, it will have past, so don't spend the Now thinking about the past or the what ifs of the future. think of the now, act on the now, and do the best of the now, now. Every thing you think of and do becomes your future, what you do now, will have an impact on your future, and the now is constantly changing as is the past and future. impact your future by being in the now with positive thoughts and positive actions, now creates your future, what you are thinking right now will create how you will respond, look or think about something in the future, or in the new now. try to catch your negative actions and thoughts when they come in the now. stop yourself when you are thinking of the what ifs from the past, think of the now. Think of the wonder that you are creating every moment of every second: your life. a truly glorious gift, make the most of it, and remember that you, your mind, your body and your spirit is free, and belongs to no man, woman, organization or government. you are born free, and it is your right to remain free. look around you and see what encroaches on your personal freedom and question it. you are free, and now is the moment to be free.

For the Revolution!

For the Now!

For Love
